Text: Exodus 4:1-4, Matthew 17:27, Mark 2:11, John 6:11. The Almighty God, Jehovah, the I AM THAT I AM, The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, The Covenant keeping God, The merciful and gracious LORD was talking with Moses, who was to become the great deliverer, law giver and judge in Jewish history. Moses needed a living proof of the presence of God in his life, in respect of the job, God was giving him: to deliver his people from the Egyptians’ bondage to Canaan, the land God had promised Abraham and his descendants. God in his infinite mercies and wisdom did not go far in securing the heart of Moses. God is not a magician . He deals with us as we are. So he asked Moses, “What is in your hand?” “A rod,” he replied. Moses had used the rod for a long time perhaps. He saw nothing spectacular in it . The rod was to become something else in the life of Moses, in Jewish history, and in God’s relationship with his creation. The rod became a symbol of power and authority. Moses was the first miracle worker in the bible. Many of us would be looking very far when we are faced with a similar situation. What are you holding in your hands might mean, what are you doing for a living, your occupation, your work place, your business, …….. ?God says that he would bless the works of our hands, that is, what we are doing, not what our neighbors, our enemies, our rich brother or uncle, our country, our president or governor are doing. God says, “I will bless the works of your hands” . What are you doing, folks in serving God’s purpose for your generation, for your family, and for your country? What will you give to God for all his blessings, care, and concern for you and your family? The bible says, “The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.” Psalm 145 : 9 . Our father Isaac was asked by God to remain in a certain place and he obeyed. The bible said, he sowed in that same land and reaped a hundred fold and the Philistines envied him . Jesus asked Peter to take his hook to the sea and to catch a certain fish. Peter obeyed and was able to pay their taxes. Jesus took 5 barley loaves from the apostles’ hands and fed 5000 men, besides women and children and they had a leftover of twelve baskets. The crippled in Mark 2 was asked by Jesus to carry his bed. As he carried it, he received his miracle. Friends, What is in your hands? Commit it to the Lord, today and he will bless it beyond your wildest imagination . I see that great miracle that will shake the whole world coming your way. Receive it in the name of Jesus. Amen. God bless you! Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year!
